White children will be outnumbered by ethnic minorities in America before the end of the decade, official figures have revealed.

Demographers had thought the swelling numbers of Hispanics and Asians meant they would take over by 2023.

But having seen the latest statistics – and the change already taking place in schools and playgrounds – they are now convinced it will happen as early as 2019.

By 2042 minorities will outnumber whites across the entire population, both adult and children.

The figures show the extent to which the higher birth rates and the relentless tide of immigration is leading to a change in the make-up of the American people.

Experts said the numbers were ‘demographically urgent’ and emphasised the need to address the issue.

Rising numbers of minorities put pressure on schools at a time when budgets are under threat and teachers are being cut.

‘For the first time, people are opening their eyes to the situation,’ said demographer William H. Frey

The census data shows that white children are now a minority in 10 states – one in five of the total.

Nationwide, Latinos are already the largest minority and one in five pupils comes from a Hispanic background.

Among children in kindergarten the figure is one in four.

Latino children however are more likely to drop out from school and more than half never finish formal education.

The figures also showed that the so-called ‘new minorities’, mostly Hispanics and Asians, were responsible for all the growth among children between 2000 and 2010 because of their higher birthrate.

During a decade when white children declined by 4.3million and black children experienced a slight decline, Hispanic and Asian children increased by 5.5million.

Jerry Weast, a school superintendant in Montgomery County in Maryland, told the Washington Post that fast changes could put schools under pressure.

‘If they’re not prepared to deal with these issues, they’ll have issues of quality such as increased dropout rates.

‘It will have a detrimental effect on their scores on state and national tests, and can create tension.’

The figures could provide a boost to Barack Obama’s hopes in next year’s election as ethnic minorities tend to vote Democrat.

The President has also been praised by Latinos for challenging laws passed in Arizona which allow police to stop anybody they believe to be an illegal immigrant and throw them in jail.

They could also stoke the immigration debate in Southern states where it has become a key issue among voters.

Yeah with Britain not far behind! Multicultural nightmare! The English way of life all but destroyed thanks to a bunch of rich overpriveledged upper class idiotic twits in Govts who thought they knew it all, Ha! not a brain cell between them! Gentlemen, you shall! reap what you have sown!

Sorry your wrong, 70% of US citizens are originally from Russia and Poland

When I was in school in Texas 30 years ago, Hispanic teachers would always want to label me as Hispanic because of my last name. I’m half Italian and half English with an Italian surname and was often labeled Hispanic because people thought it was a Spanish name.

“The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” Hispanics are having more children that their white counterparts. The average size of a white family has been getting smaller since WWII. Most of my counterparts choose not to have children, or complain about overpopulation. They are happier being parents to their pets. When my second child was born, I was asked if I was done and if not, why not. With attitudes like that, this was bound to happen.

if you look at my two kids school photos its already happened.

Same trend that’s happening in Britain and the rest of Europe. Europeans just aren’t having as many kids in their post-industrial societies compared to these countries of the ‘developing world’. Give it a hundred years – whites will be a minority in western Europe and the US. Just the way it’s going to be – demographics will do their thing, whether one is personally in favor of it or not.
